Ąö  A Brief Introduction to Hangzhou

Located on the east coast of China, Hangzhou, the capital of Zhejiang Province, is a city with historical and cultural heritage, a city for sightseeing and tourism, a metropolis in Yangtze delta. The climate in this area is warm and humid, with four distinct and well-proportioned seasons in a year. Under the jurisdiction of Hangzhou are eight districts and five counties and towns, which cover an area of 16596 square kilometers with a population of 6116400.

 With a long standing history, Hangzhou is one of the cradle-land of ancient culture. Our ancestors settled in Hangzhou area 4700 years ago, they multiplied continuously and flourished, forming so-called Liangzhu Culture. As a county founded in Qin Dynasty, Hangzhou has a history more than 2000 years. Being the national capital in Wu Dai and South Song dynasties for 273 years, Hangzhou is one of seven ancient capitals in China, and known as a Ą°culture centerĄ±.

Possessing excellent sceneries such as West Lake and Qiantang River, Hangzhou is famous as Ą°heaven on earthĄ±. An Italian traveler Marco Polo once remarked that the city is the most beautiful and splendid in the world.

Hangzhou has rich tourist resources. There are two national beauty spots,
five national forest parks, two natural reserves, one national tourist holiday zone, over eighty national and provincial and civic reserves, over one hundred tourist scenic spots.

 Hangzhou has beautiful natural environment and booming economy. It is famous for its silk and tea. These years Hangzhou becomes a city with the combination of historical culture, natural scenery and modern civilization.

Ąö  A Brief Introduction to LinĄŻan

LinĄŻan city is located in the northwest part of Zhejiang Province, to the west of Hangzhou closely, and to the east of famous scenic spot Huangshan Mountain. The population of city amounts to 520,000, and the area is 3126.9 km2, the largest land area among the counties (cities) in Zhejiang province.

The land of LinĄŻan is pregnant of beauty and productive of talent, furthermore, the greatness of people lends glory to it. There are the birthplace and mausoleum of Qian Liao (852 - 932), the king of Wuyue Kingdom in this city. His descendents are distributed both home and abroad, many of them are notable.

The land of LinĄŻan city maintains the source of two great river systems, Qiantangjiang River and Taihu Lake. The forest coverage of land area reaches 74.9 %. On the territory of LinĄŻan situated several nature preservative zones: Tianmushan National Nature Reserve, a member of World Network: Men and Biosphere, National Nature Reserve Qingliangfeng, ational Forest Park Qingshanhu, Provincial Scenic Spot Damingshan.

The excellent vegetation and water reservation created fine climate in LinĄŻan, and the produce is abundant. Many of special local products are organic green food. Tea, dried bamboo shoots and hickory nuts are Ą°three traditional treasuresĄ± of LinĄŻan. Stone of cock-blood color from LinĄŻan, stone of lamp light from Qingtian, Zhejiang province, and translucent stone from Shoushan, Fujian are regarded as three high-qualified materials for making seals.

 Since the implementation of the reform and open policy, LinĄŻan has entered the list of hundred counties (cities) with high comprehensive strength three times; it is also a city of advanced science and technology, a model city of agricultural development, a model city of ecology and an outstanding tourist city in China. Additionally, LinĄŻan is one of the 17 economically advanced counties (cities), one of the first well-off counties (cities), and a hygienic city in Zhejiang Province, it is famous as the home of Chinese bamboo, the home of Chinese hickory nuts, the home of Chinese folk painting and calligraphy.
